FISHING'S FANTASTIC AT ASH·KA·NAM 

Fishing is the most popular pastime for the summer guests visiting the Ash River Trail. 
There are 5 major lakes in the park, each with thousands of acres of clean, refreshing  water. 
These scenic lakes are characterized by rugged shorelines, with many calm bays, occasional
sand beaches, rocky points and pine-studded islands.

     
  
THERE ARE NO MOTOR RESTRICTIONS for boaters who can travel freely Along the
remote, uncrowded 50-mile-long system of lakes.  Anglers fishing Voyageurs National Park
will find walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, sturgeon and crappie.  For the more
adventurous, try one of VNP's interior lakes and fish for lake trout,
northern pike, largemouth bass, crappie and muskie.
